| Been a long while since I updated, guess I finally found a reason to. A lot has happened.
Finished up my first year of grad school and starting to look into next year and getting my thesis together even though I have no clue what it will be about. Learned a lot in school and in general the classes are interesting. Living in San Diego was kinda meh at first but I think I have really grown to like this place. I think its just the spring time here, the zoo is packed with baby animals and the beaches are awesome. Took some time but I've slowly been discovering what this place really has to offer.
This past weekend was jam packed of adventures. Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Tito's Tacos, Rodeo Drive, Korean Dinner in Torrence, Downtown Disney, Wild Animal Park, Hash House, Extraordinary Desserts, Coronado Beach, Phils BBQ, then finally the Zoo today. I'm exhausted and almost done packing to drive back to the bay tomorrow morning. Never done that long of a drive alone, it'll be an interesting experience.

| We have a new President. It was nice watching the inauguration and history in the making. Based on all the festivities leading up to and after the ceremony, this President is truly different from all the others. I remember Bush having his ball wearing cowboy boots and celebrating with other rich people. Boring. Last nights celebration had celebrities from music, movies, tv, etc. President Obama and the First Lady had their beautiful first dance to Beyonce singing "At Last." Presidential Ball but at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball that was open to the public. The only ball of its kind in history. I couldn't help but be glued o the tv the majority of the day morning to night. I couldn't make this inaguration but I'm going to try my best to be at his next one ;). I'm optimistic towards the changes he has planned but also do so knowing that he is one person and not all of America's problems will be magically fixed but at least we will be headed in the right direction. On a side note, I think yesterday was the first time I was truly proud to have been able to serve in Americorps. I knew I should have entered the contest to be in the inaugural parade with alumni. Damnit!
My mom said her co-worker refused to watch or listen to the inauguration on the radio. It's unfortunate that there are people out there that can't embrace this amazing historical moment regardless of what political party they apart of. Silly Republicans.
Less than a week until I am heading back to SD. How friggen depressing! Been enjoying my time home.Glad I will be home for Chinese New Years!

| So last night, I had my routine planned out for election day. All went according to plan except the whole doing hw while watching the news part. I started to get antsy around 3pm and couldn't concentrate so I eventually gave up and spent the rest of the night going back and forth between the news and my computer hitting the refresh button every few minutes. The moment I heard Obama won Ohio I knew it was over. Not too long after history was made and Barack Obama was the President elect. It was an incredible moment and I will be able to tell generations to come what I was doing the moment the first African American was elected President. "I was sitting in front of my computer obsessively hitting refresh" haha. McCains concession speach was at about 8:20 pm and it was a good one. The crowd however, needed to calm down. About an hour later Obama came out with his speech and I almost wanted to cry. His daughters are getting a new puppy! His speach was awesome though, I wanted to yell "YES WE CAN!" with him but realized I was not at a rally or anything and there was no one around. I was optimistic about this one and I'm glad it worked out the way it did. I also have to admit I feel bad for McCain because he tried so many times, I would have taken him over Bush anyday.
The night, however, still isn't over. I'm very happy that prop 4 doesn't look like it will pass. Other propositions are also going the way I want except the big one. Proposition 8 banning gay marraige in California. I don't want to get into details about how I feel about what has been said about this proposition but so far with 80% of precincts reporting and a 4% difference, looks like it will pass and many Californians will be stripped of their human rights. I'm sure the fight is long from over though. History has shown that it takes a great effort to simply give people basic rights, this is no different. The fight continues. It's just sickening that it is happening in 2008.
This is a great site I have been following. The filters are awesome and really explains why people vote the way they do.

I'm very proud to be Chinese American tonight but very dissappointed in California. Maybe I'll wake up in a few hours and something would have changed. CHANGE!!!! YES WE CAN!
(Btw SoCal in general voted Yes on 8, I really need to go home)

| Wow, it's been a while. Lots of changes in the past few months. School has been tiring, gotta get used to this midterm and lack of sleep business all over again. I think I have a headache from caffeine withdrawal. I swear I only had coffee like 3 days in a row or so. Yet another health hazard of school. Not too much to say here except I now know I will always be a bay area person haha. Not that it sucks in SD or anything but it's just kind of ok. Besides the beaches, home is way better. Then again it could be because home is home. But this isn't close to Tahoe and good snow so, yeah, home is way better. Kinda just going through the motions now and being a hermit focusing on school. I pretty much only go out to play when people visit *hint hint*. So far, looking forward to my first visit home since the end of August. T-minus 30 days!
